Historic Bridge Refurbishment
A wrought-iron bowstring pony truss bridge built in the 1870s will be making a grand return to Eagle Lake at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve Downers Grove IL by the end of October. The tat isn’t the only bridge being replaced, but it does make the top of the list as the most notable relic of the park’s past. The most prestigious honor is a reconstructed aesthetically and structurally enhanced bridge that maintains its historic significance while standing up to the demands of modern traffic and maintenance vehicles. Using the most modern technologies, a team of engineering wizards is hard at work. Besides the obvious replacement of the old fashioned iron horse, there are many other exciting upgrades and renovations planned for the parks and trails this year.
