The Pavilion

The Pavilion is a spectacular special event venue that can accommodate up to 250 guests located in the picturesque Lords Park. This beautiful facility features a Victorian banquet facility with hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, picket doors and large windows that offer scenic park views.

The pavilion is also an ideal location for weddings, quinceaneras, bridal & baby showers and birthday/anniversary parties. It offers outdoor ceremony grounds with ponds, fountains and a wooden bridge.

Local lore will be on the agenda next week at the Lords Park Pavilion, when the Elgin Parks and Recreation Foundation hosts three talks about the park’s storied past. The talks are meant to build support for preservation efforts.

The Tower Building

Elgin, located 35 miles northwest of Chicago, has a rich history that includes Native American ties and the ability to harness power from the water moving through the Fox River. This city has a wealth of museums, parks and attractions.

One of those attractions is the Tower Building, which was built in 1929. The building is a work of art and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It’s a beautiful piece of architecture that is undergoing renovation into luxury loft apartments managed and leased by KMG Prestige. This redevelopment has been well received by the community and is a welcome addition to Downtown.

Throughout its lifetime, the Tower was home to many tenants and residents. Some people recall heading to their doctor’s or dentist’s office in the Tower Building during their time living in Elgin. A fantastic read!

The Elgin Public Museum

The Elgin Public Museum is a natural history and anthropology museum located within the 108-acre Lords Park. Its mission is to enhance knowledge of the natural sciences and anthropology through exhibits and interactive experiences.

The grand Neo-Classical building is a unique architectural piece that has seen its share of history. Originally used as a fancy hay storage facility, it is now known for its natural history collection and fun family centered activities for the residents of Elgin.

This 108-acre regional park was first established by the Lord family in 1893. It has numerous facilities in a scenic setting of mature Hickory and Oak trees on rolling terrain.

The Gail Borden Public Library

Elgin is home to a number of historic landmarks, museums and attractions. Many of these are free to enjoy, making the city an attractive destination for families on a budget.

The Gail Borden Public Library is a wonderful place to visit for families and children. It offers timely art exhibits from local artists, free lectures and family events.

Located on Grove Avenue in downtown Elgin, this library is one of the largest in Illinois. The Prairie School-inspired exterior creates a striking image from all angles.

It houses a popular materials collection, a computer cafe, a zen garden and natural prairie plantings. It also earned gold LEED certification for its environmentally friendly features.

The Hemmens Cultural Center

The Hemmens Cultural Center is the cornerstone of Elgin’s growing arts community. This intimate 1,200 seat theatre is a favorite venue for seeing stars up close and is home to the award winning Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

The venue’s clear sightlines and wide aisles provide an unparalleled concert and theatre-going experience where patrons get the sense of sitting in a luxury suite. Even the balcony’s level of comfort and proximity to the stage rivals that of many other venues’ “club level seating”.

The Hemmens is also a premier rental venue for events such as dance recitals, graduation ceremonies and community theater groups. Its 11,340 square foot Exhibition Hall features a fully equipped banquet kitchen and art gallery.  A great post!
